- Date: 13th August 2020
- Description:Strict COVID-19 precautions for 16,000 candidates passing entry tests in Vienna for admission to Medical University Around 16,000 candidates are taking admission tests for medical studies across Austria on Friday, August 14. In Vienna alone they were over 5,000, marking one of the largest indoor events since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. A strict security concept requiring a fever test and access stamp guides the thousands of applicants through the day in front of the Vienna exhibition hall. The security concept was prepared for weeks. The admission time of each applicant to the exam halls, was planned every 15 minute. Some of them waited around an hour. Mouth and nose protection must be worn outside and inside, and the distance rules must be observed. Masks may only be removed at one's seat, in addition to spacing and hygiene measures. As in previous years, the application test for the Medical University takes eight hours. Only one in every 10 applicants will secure a place of study. Inside you sit without a mask, with a distance. And one of the most important factors is the ventilation because the candidates sit inside for hours. This means that the ventilation situation is one of the most important parts of the overall concept.” - TC 02:19 VOXPOP (German) Female candidate: “I took a second mask with me as a replacement.
