- Description:16:49:13 - A01. HRN-2756 In: 16.49.13 Out: 16.49.39 Sound Bite: Colin Farrell finding a role that resonates with him Thats the idea, thats both the idea and the ideal is that you will find something that you can connect on some level and that can move you in some way shape or form, whether it makes you laugh or touches you or sparks some curiousity that wasnt there before. I mean what this film did was just uh just uh put to the forefront of my mind a bunch of curiosity and questions particularly pertaining to my character, Jimmy Egan. 16:49:46 - A02. HRN-2756 In: 16.49.46 Out: 16.50.36 Sound Bite: Colin Farrell was his character hard to play Hes fairly sick as a character you know theres a lot of, hes got his demons, he really does um and I dont know where he ever where theres ever kind of a resting place that he finds himself in. Hes lying with his family, hes lying with his boys, probably, and you know theres never, hes never living in a moment where he can stop looking over his shoulder and let his shoulders down but uh theres an incredible contrast of somebodys whos a great family man, a wonderful father, and a wonderful husband and will treat his family with great care and gentility on one hand and as soon as he crosses the bridge into Manhattan and begins his shift, a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing takes over and hes brutal, brutal but its all born of his necessity as far as hes concerned to get home to his family every night. 16:50:48 - A03. HRN-2756 In: 16.50.48 Out: 16.51.03 Sound Bite: Colin Farrell explaining the authenticity of the film Well Gavin OConner, um, I couldnt tell you actually where, what part of New York Gavin was actually brought up in, but Gavin was the, is the son and Gavins brother Greg who produced the film, theyre both the sons of a 30 and 40 year old veteran of the NYPD. 16:51:07 - A04. HRN-2756 In: 16.51.07 Out: 16.51.55 Sound Bite: Colin Farrell Right, I mean again, we hung out with cops, you know and you just you know by somebody else you kind of accept some of the energy you try to you know you pilfer them and you listen to their experiences. They were very generous, the cops, that spent many time with us actors, they were incredibly generous with their experiences and their stories and the affect that the job has and the affect that it might have on their personal lives and also the mundanity of it at times, you know that its not always exciting, and sometimes when it is exciting it ends in horror, you know youre around these guys and you see where they eat and you kind of adopt some energy from the texture of the environment, it was all shot in Manhattan you know we spent some time up in Washington Heights in Northern Manhattan, so there were a lot of tools that were put to our disposal as actors you know.
