- Summary: Grindhouse: Grindhouse Junket Kurt Russell Interview
- Description:17:48:30 - Sound Bite: Kurt Russell Well you always hope that when a great director calls you and wants you to be in a movie that, you do kind of hold your breath and say god I hope this is a character I want to play, I hope this is a type of movie that I want to do. What happened here was once I you know once I did that it was like you got to be kidding me I couldnt have thrown a dart on a wall better than this, this is exactly what I would like to do with Quentin Tarantino and this whole night I would love to do something and be a part of that. But be to able to play thee guy thee killer in this in this uh in the Death Proof section of the Grindhouse evening with Quentin Tarantino was it was almost as much as fun as doing it. The thought of it was almost much fun as doing it, it was just a complete and total blast, yeah I said (snaps fingers) yeah. 17:49:27 - Sound Bite: Kurt Russell Ive been playing against type for forty-seven years but you know what I never have played a psycho killer, Ive never played that guy. (talks) hes not a bad guy, hes the bad ass yeah I mean thats the difference and thats why Ive probably never done it before. If Im going to play this at least at this point hats what I felt like, you know Ive had the opportunity before but I just looked at it and said I just dont wanna be that guy, I dont care to so it, it doesnt hold anything special for me. I think the ending of this movie is uhm in my concept I thought he was going after and in fact he was very much wanting to go down that road. With me anyway, I think there are other actors that are, that were possibly going to do that part he wouldnt have gone down that road, there very, the very end of the movie thats my version as it were, you know in my mind of what these guys are like. You know theres a reality there that I wanted to tap into you know I wanna do that. Its not you know its right in this atmosphere and I wanna do that cause the other guy doesnt see that coming hes like yeah thats very true, that core true. 17:50:57 - Sound Bite: Kurt Russell I met once Quentin once before but I didnt know that he knew everything, everything Id ever done I mean wow its unbelievable its shocking, its shocking he knows whole scenes of movies that youve forgotten that you worked in. (talks) Hes uh, whats fun about talking about talking to Quentin is that hes always logical, I always find thats hes one of these people he grew up in a different way and that is to say he is very much a self made man and he has always only scene the truth, he doesnt have a lot of milking down of the truth. O his movies, reason I think that a lot of the humor works is because ultimately we laugh at the truth of it and we never see that. Thats how much time, thats how often we dont see the truth. And I think character wise I like to play that as an actor, I like to play the truth about some of these people and I think that when we talked about stunt man Mike what he wanted to write I wanted to play but I wanted to play it all the way the truth and you know there were some key words in there one being coward then I thought yeah you know badass are often cowards lets see that side too.
