- Description:12:36:38 - Sound Bite: Adam Sandler & Don Cheadle Don Well uh Adam and I met at Mike Binders house I think for a hot dog party Adam Yes, Binder flys in Hot dogs from Michigan, hes from Detroit and this particular hot dog joint he likes and apparently all his Detroit friends do live out here now so he flies in hot dogs. We were invited luckily, howd you like those hot dogs by the way? Don good hot dogs, its a fine hot dog Adam fine hot dog, fine frank footer Don thats right Adam And then we hung out at that party, but I, I, you know we have mutual friends, I heard how great Cheadle was as a guy a bunch of times 12:37:20 - Sound Bite: Adam Sandler & Don Cheadle Don Uhm well I mean Adam I think he did Don he knew that, when I met Adam, Mike, I mean, Sorry when I met Mike I knew that Adam was involved in the movie and uh he just wanted us to meet because I think he thought correctly that we would hit it of and you know that it would be good to have us build this relationship that we were going to have to rediscover in the movie. 12:37:53 - Sound Bite: Adam Sandler & Don Cheadle Don Yeah I mean hes defiantly cheating on his relationship you know it doesnt matter who its with, hes cheating on the relationship, hes not being faithful to the things that are going to make that relationship work and I dont think thats its malicious I just think its what happens a lot of times in a relationship when your with somebody so long and you start taking them for granted and the next thing you know youre not plugging them into the things that are going on in your life and you look up and how did we get here, I think thats where he find himself so its great when he finds you know Charlie, its not really this altruistic I want to help this guy its like I want to escape, I want to get away from my little problems, its not until they start to grow closer that he finds out he really needs him. 12:38:37 - Sound Bite: Adam Sandler & Don Cheadle Adam I just uhm my guys who uhm find stuff called me up hey take a look at this and I read it, the first time I thought it was an amazing script but honestly I think I was more excited to see the movie with a great actor on my part, I was like I hope they get somebody good for that cause I cant do that man (talks) I swear to god I said no in the beginning because I was too scared to do it, I was just afraid of it. And then like a month later I read it again and I started getting, partially I was thinking if I do see someone else in that part Im probably going to be mad at myself because its such a great role and such a great story and I just committed to it (talks) Youre right I mean its not like a, it wasnt a typical thing cause I was pigeon holding, I think I can do a lot of stuff but this one I was afraid of 100 % and I didnt know if I could do it and I just, I ultimately just gave it a shot. Don And its a big thing if you dont do it right you know especially for Adams character Adam exactly yeah Don the real survivors of this who are walking around dealing with it, hes carrying a lot of weight. 12:40:03 - Sound Bite: Adam Sandler & Don Cheadle talks about accepting the challenge of playing a different character. Adam Ive done stuff that I actually, when I did Spanglish and Punch Drunk love I was safe, I felt safe there anyways cause of the material, I just connected with it. This guy I was just having to do not my life at all and I had to just make uh a whole new characters life up and I uhm, I was afraid to do it. But like I said I accepted the challenge and Im glad I did. 12:40:36 - Sound Bite: Adam Sandler & Don Cheadle Adam I cant believe that youre right I didnt know it was gonna be as funny in the movie (talks) thats true and Cheadle is hilarious in the movie I cant Im, when I saw the movie in the first time in Seattle Mike Binder kept, the guy who wrote it and directed it kept telling me oh this is really funny, this is really funny I was like what the hell is this guy talking about? And then I saw Cheadle uh in front of a crowd destroy, I kept going its like Eddie Murphy or something why is this killing as hard as it is and uh it just it does get into heavy places a lot throughout the movie so its not just a you know its not a typical comedy. Don I think that it helps that you know the lighter moments really help the heavier moment land.
