- Description:11:12:29 - A01. HRN-826 In: 11.12.29 Out: 11.13.02 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson What is it like to work with Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Beyonce. That is one of the most popular questions. (talks) Dude, it is a dream to be able to work with the and to learn from them is a blessing. Who do you know that gets to work with the best and study them. So it is definitely a dream for me because they are my favorite artists. 11:13:08 - A02. HRN-826 In: 11.13.08 Out: 11.13.25 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson Wow, it was a six month process. Three different auditions over the six month time span. My first audition was in May. I didnt get the role until late October, early November. 11:13:25 - A03. HRN-826 In: 11.13.25 Out: 11.13.35 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson It was very intense and it was just a long process. It took a lot of patience. 11:13:36 - A04. HRN-826 In: 11.13.36 Out: 11.13.52 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson Yes, yes it is. It really is. Yes and yes I hit the floor, I shouted. I called my mama. I screamed. I did everything possible you know. It is a blessing. I never have wanted anything more. 11:14:08 - A05. HRN-826 In: 11.14.08 Out: 11.14.24 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson Thank you, thank you, just hearing that is so far beyond my imagination. It is just an honor to just hear it being said. Im grateful for that. 11:14:27 - A06. HRN-826 In: 11.14.27 Out: 11.15.11 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson Oh definitely. Oh god yes. Just watching how Danny Glover, back in, when we were reading through the script, how he would approach his character from the start. It was a huge learning experience for me across the board. Because this is my first film, I dont know what I am doing. I had to learn from them. Where do you even start, how do you even begin? Watching him, how he would approach his character from the start. This is where it starts when you do the read around at the table. And you read through the script watching him and you watch Eddie Murphy go in and out of character on set. The transition of it. You know, things like that was a lesson for me. 11:15:14 - A07. HRN-826 In: 11.15.14 Out: 11.15.24 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson I came in seventh place, I was one of the three divas. 11:15:25 - A08. HRN-826 In: 11.15.25 Out: 11.15.46 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson Definitely, definitely. It was a huge platform for people such as myself to be scene. It was the vehicle for me to be seen for Dreamgirls because had it not been for Idol, they would have not known of a Jennifer Hudson to pick up the phone and say would you come out and audition for Dreamgirls. 11:16:03 - A09. HRN-826 In: 11.16.03 Out: 11.16.15 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson I feel blessed to be the first and not the only. It is not everyday that you get an opportunity like this. 11:16:13 - A10. HRN-826 In: 11.16.13 Out: 11.16.52 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson Not really. I knew of, and Im telling you, I knew of them changing. I didnt know of the storyline until we started production on it and of course I was born the year that Dreamgirls the play opened. So I never saw it. Up until, right before Idol, I thought Effie White was the name of Jennifer Holiday. I didnt even know it was a character name. Effie White. Oh I want to play Jennifer Holiday on Broadway. That is what I would say. So I didnt even know the storyline. 11:17:03 - A11. HRN-826 In: 11.17.03 Out: 11.17.40 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson Yes, she is the lead singer of the Dreams, or the original lead singer of the Dreams and like you said she is the one with the talent and Deena is the one with the image and Lorel I guess is the one with the patience to be there. And also she is talented, who is pushed into the background because she does not have the image that is needed to cross over into the mainstream. She is the one with the struggle. The main struggle in the storyline. 11:17:47 - A12. HRN-826 In: 11.17.47 Out: 1.18.09 Sound bite: Jennifer Hudson Yes but I actually really sang along and sang out but in the end it appears as if I lip sync. (talks) I was, just as hard as I sing on the record I was belting out right there on the stage.
