This is a full on musical. Now Ray was a drama about music, no this is a musical. A real musical. It has a following. It has a vibe, when they showed a few minutes of it in Cannes, people flipped. I said, oh man, you got to be part of this. And I like the fact that I get the chance to play the role which is the non-expectant role. My homies were coming out of the screening saying, god, why were you so tough on these people man. So actually you have to be a part of it. 11:53:56 - A03. HRN-825 In: 11.53.56 Out: 11.54.39 Sound bite: Jamie Foxx Yeah, come on. I think Motown and what happened in the sixties and seventies , we still look back to to find inspiration. Because I dont think that there has been a time period that music has been that forthcoming with hits. I mean hits that people will sing for the rest of their lives. Of course the 80s we had hits, 90s, and even now but they are kind of flimsy compared to those hits we had back then. To see what Barry Gordy did and all the people did. Marvin Gaye and and and and James Brown. To see what they did back in that time is just incredible. 11:54:48 - A04. HRN-825 In: 11.54.48 Out: 11.55.21 Sound bite: Jamie Foxx And how beautiful she looks in the movie. People take for granted sometimes, They say she is pretty but she is beautiful in this movie. She is pretty, but she is ridiculous in this movie the way Bill Condon shoots it and then her talent speaks volumes when she did, she did the Oprah Winfrey show and she sung the song Listen. Ripped. And then Jennifer Hudson, now she has her wig all the way off. Her wig is laying on the ground when you are walking off. Your whole noggin. 11:55:25 - A05. HRN-825 In: 11.55.25 Out: 11.55.45 Sound bite: Jamie Foxx My sister did all the wigs and everything like that but it is funny to see yourself because you really are a different person. It is like old school acting. You are going to go in this closet, find some wigs and some wardrobe and walk out and do a play. That is what it is all about. 11:55:56 - A06. HRN-825 In: 11.55.56 Out: 11.56.26 Sound bite: Jamie Foxx You know what, if you go up on everything on Oscar.com, they got a like, her like, a little bit of Beyonce too. I dont like to put her on a curse thing but man, why not. She does such an incredible job with no help. These girls just come out and they just blowthey get on the set and just absolutely rip it to shreds. 11:56:28 - A07. HRN-825 In: 11.56.28 Out: 11.57.06 Sound bite: Jamie Foxx I can talk about them. I think Eddie Murphy too. I mean I just look at Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy, not just in this role but for everything he has done. To me, I know it sounds clich and Im just pumping up the movie but it really does deliver. Even Bill Condon, the director. I mean. I dont know how, I dont know how tough it is to take a musical and make it a movie and make it actually work. 11:57:25 - A08. HRN-825 In: 11.57.25 Out: 11.57.52 Sound bite: Jamie Foxx Not quite like the original cast. But the reviews and everything, when you saw Jennifer Holiday who took the song to a pop hit and started performing, so people have that inside them. You know, they have the sort of like the DNA inside them already from that song so that is what makes it, makes it hot.
