Featured alongside clips illustrating his unique style as a stand up comedian are moments from his memorable interviews with Michael Parkinson and revealing footage of him as a straight actor. The programme also marks the return to the screen of his notable partnership with Roy Barraclough as Cissie and Ada. Those paying tribute include his widow Tracy together with Dave Allen, John Cleese, Mike Craig, Barry Cryer, Ken Dodd, Hughie Green, Jane Horrocks, Mo Moreland and Alan Plater.
