- Summary: Liev Schreiber: HRN-2931 Defiance Junket Liev Schreiber Interviewed by Tanira Lebedeff
- Description:00:46:35 - Sound Bite: Liev Schreiber Was it important to portray the conflict between the 2 brothers What I loved about the character of Zus was the duality that I felt was present. Thats always good I think for characters to be able to contain that kind of duality. And inasmuch as there was rage and violence and hate in this guy, its opposite also had to be present which was deep love, and I think probably the driving force for me and the character, besides revenge, was love. And I think thats probably what drove the revenge and I think that that for me was embodied in the relationship to Tuvia his older brother. 00:47:23 - Sound Bite: Liev Schreiber does this being based on real figures put on more pressure It does, Im not the type who likes to meet people. I find that its um it just creates so much pressure for me. They were incredibly friendly and really really generous with us but it was very intimidating to me because I had the sense now that I had to not only portray this incredible heroic character with this great history but I had to portray him for his own family and um those are pressures you dont need, particularly when Im someone who kind of likes to work backwards with a character. You know Im often a lot more interested in the kind of seems, the cracks, the vulnerabilities of a person other than what makes them heroic because I often think those vulnerabilities that make them heroic. 00:48:30 - Sound Bite: Liev Schreiber why are WWII and Vietnam movies the only successful war movies too much salt on the wounds too soon? Maybe it is, I dont know. Ive never been very good at trying to understand he marketing aspects of films. I mean I guess what Ive read is that its not a very, what Ive read is its not a very popular war with people and so I dont think they want to be reminded of it. I also think a good movie about war transcends it somehow, so hopefully Defiance does. 00:49:10 - Sound Bite: Liev Schreiber are you going back to the directors chair anytime soon? I would like to, you know Im kind of up to my ears in baby right now, so um I think for the next at least few months I kind of want to stay home with Nay and the boys and have fun. 00:49:26 - Sound Bite: Liev Schreiber how is Christmas with the children? I dont know, I havent done it yet. You know were expecting any day now and um haha I dont know Im nervous about how were gonna pull off Christmas with an infant and 16 month old baby boy. Um but Im really looking forward to it.
