- Summary: The Women: The Women Junket Eva Mendes Interview
- Description:03:33:41 - Sound Bite: Eva Mendes I you know I was a little apprehensive at first because people were you know you know its the role that Joan Crawford made famous back in 1939 and I knew people werent going to be happy with anything I did because you know because it was here role yet I felt a lot better once I realized what movie Diane English was making and she was making a very modern take on the old you know the women. So in modernizing that we changed so much and its a, its the same character that was written but we really gave her a different spin and we made her not so kind of uh you know bad and evil. We made her a little pathetic and desperate and kind of like you know just wrong you know what I mean, not, yeah shes just wrong. I dont necessarily think shes like a bad girl, I just think shes uh made bad decisions because shes desperate, she needs that love, she needs that mad. 03:34:45 - Sound Bite: Eva Mendes Pretty much, thats a good way to put it. We all went to Marthas Vineyard stayed on Diane Englishs beautiful home for about four days and you know great idea on Diane Englishs part because we really got to have some really true bonding, not like when you meet in rehearsal and youre going to go shoot the film in a few hours and then you have to, you know what I mean then you have to create this thing, we really had time to sit and swap stories and uhm really share experiences with one another. 03:35:22 - Sound Bite: Eva Mendes I do love men but its true I have had girlfriends that Ive had since I was 12 years old and I have newer girlfriends that I have met in the business but I honestly, theres nothing like, I couldnt be where I am without them, thats, theyre my sounding board, theyre my my you know my safety and my sisters, I have two sisters and my mom, all these females in my life that really mean so much to me. I couldnt do anything without them. 03:35:55 - Sound Bite: Eva Mendes Uhm probably you know, probably someone like, I think Steven is probably Clive Owen {Laughs} in you know or looks like Clive Owen maybe, just a little more graying at the temples maybe, sounds good. 03:36:23 - Sound Bite: Eva Mendes Yeah I uhm, it wasnt that different as far as on set because there were still men around they just werent in the movie so you know you have the cameramen you have all kind of, thank god we had men around, they just didnt make it in front of the camera. They were there behind the cameras. 03:37:01 - Sound Bite: Eva Mendes Oh gosh I just applaud her for sticking with something, its been 14 years shes stuck with it and uhm I just applaud her for that and that was a big part of me doing the film is working with these woman and supporting Diane because unfortunately we dont have a lot of female directors out there and I wanted to support her and really make sure that this happened for her because its pretty unbelievable to stick to something that long and really follow it through and make it happen. 03:37:31 - Sound Bite: Eva Mendes Amazing. Theyre just you know theyre pros, theyve been around theyve done it and theyre just pros and theyre fun and there funny and well spoken and I learned a lot from them, a lot absolutely.
