- Description:00:00:36 - Sound Bite: Mike Ruggiero Bloodsucking Cinema well you know you think about the vampire film thats probably the most prolific sub genre of the horror genre so we just thought we could do nothing better, if were going to do a horror documentary you gotta do vampires uhm the allure of vampires is so exciting I mean who wouldnt want to sleep all day and be out all night I mean there the rock stars of horror figures, vampires and there also very sexy you know they get all the girls, they hold sway over everybody and everything and they can shape shift I mean it just goes on and on and they live forever and they live forever young so uh I think thats why it has a universal appeal, the myth of the vampire and it has a door for hundreds of years well maybe not hundreds but you know over hundreds of ? thats been a powerful, powerful story that everybody seems to be interested in. 00:01:50 - Sound Bite: Mike Ruggiero Bloodsucking Cinema well youre going to see a tribute to all things vampires, the vampire myth has been around forever you know even before Braum Stroker put pen to paper and penned Dracula. Then when it came to film with Nasfaratu uh you know that just really opened the flood gates and the of course Bella Lagosse Uh when Bella Lagosse did the stage version of Dracula and the film version of Dracula then this thing steam rolled over the this uh snowballed over the years and uh here we are in 2007 and were still making vampire movies and pay tribute to all these films, all these different incarnations of these vampire films over the years for me the greatest era was Hammer film era cause they took the vampire legend and they made it so sexy and everything that always existed in those stories but always existed as a subtext they brought to the forefront so suddenly there was blood and nudity and the sexuality was overt uhm and of course Christopher Lee for me was the best vampire ever on screen uhm though you know its been taken in so many different directions and uhm there are so many great vampire films you know its really a testament of the power of the story of vampires. 00:09:33 - Sound Bite: Melissa Bacelar Gurgling on blood is always fun theres one scene in the movie that I remember very well that I literally had to ride around on the bed for 4 minutes with I think it was like Hershey Syrup or something coming out of my mouth and just pretending I was in pain and that was part of the turning into vampire process. So lots of blood, lots of screaming, lots of ? what every good horror film has, sexuality and blood. 00:10:14 - Sound Bite: Melissa Bacelar Horror is applying to a lot of people and I think vampires are appealing because of the immortality because vampires are still sexy and sexual and people are sort of watch them and even though theyre scared of them they still fantasize about them and thats what most people want to do, they want to fantasize when they watch a movie you know. 00:11:22 - Sound Bite: Elle Travis Well there hot ahha generally I think the first vampire movie I ever saw was when I was a little girl and it was beyond the time I think when it was actually, ? was The Hunted with David Bowie and I mean my god, that man was absolutely, that, that defined sensuality for me for the rest of my life and from there ever since like every single movie like the lost boys I might have been like 11 when that came out you know just starting to feel my woos and the boys were really cute. And most recently I just was at 30 Days of Night and most vampires in that were not so hot but defiantly the lead when he turned into a vampire. So I think its a sensuality, a sexuality I think its an obsession with being alive forever especially in a world in which we live where sex is such a forbidden taboo where we have a sexuality thats accepted straight on screen thats so hot. 00:14:30 - B-Roll Bloodsucking Cinema Sign, red Headed Actress, Bloodsucking Cinema Sign 00:18:21 - B-Roll Vampire Picture 00:20:34 - B-Roll people in party 00:21:11 - B-Roll - Bloodsucking Cinema Poster with skeleton, people at party, dead head to clock 00:24:25 - B-Roll Coffin, Skeleton head with sunglasses, people, Lost boys playing on screen 00:26:38 - B-Roll Skeleton grave yard 00:31:18 - B-Roll Skeletons to people, people talking 00:33:26 - Sound Bite: Bloody-disgusting.com I think vampires are interesting because until 30 Days of Night theyve always been sexy you either want to fuck them or be them one or the other so theyve always been cool and alluring and I think thats a big big thing and the documentary from tonight touched on party all day, sleep all night who wouldnt you know Lost Boys who wouldnt like that. So it sounds fun but I dont know 30 Days of Night might change all that because that movie is scary vampires (talks) yeah totally there frightening vampires unlike Le Stat where you love him hes so cool and then you get these new vampires that are like wait a minute. So Im very curious how vampires are going to change in pop culture and in the movies cause once again vampires has been played out go to blockbuster and theres like 9 zillion vampire movie but I wonder where the next wave will take us. 00:35:01 - Sound Bite: Bloody-disgusting.com Scary vampire movies I guess Nasfaratu sort off, but um, no none, as kid was lost boys and fright night, those where the movies that changed everything and then reading the Ann Rice books literally it changed life styles for people I mean this was a big deal but none of them were ever scary, you had your vampires and your good vampires but none of them were really scary like fearing for your life. I actually got in a big debate the other day with some friends of whats worse if suddenly a bunch of zombies were coming at us or vampires what would be worse and there was one guy who was like no zombies are worse and I was like are you crazy vampires they just come over pissh and your done zombies you can kind of walk away from but no vampires are, there cool (talks) or you can die I mean they could just kill you and not make you a vampire so either way you can be, I guess it depends what your on would it be cool to be a vampire, sure why not.
