- Description:01:09:08 - AO1.HRN-1551 In:01.09.08 Out:01.10.42 Sound Bite: Patrick Fugit- Um yeah it was but thats really got me excited when I first read the script when I first heard about it cause after I read I kind of went around thinking about it how often during the day I was smiling and what I was using the smile for like what situations I was using the smile for I started realizing and you kind of occurred to me before but now I stared realizing like you know you smile when your laughing and something funny but you smile when your sad or when something gets awkward or even when your angry you smile all the time and the I started thinking about situations and acting when I sorted maybe maybe took the easy way out using crutches and stuff like that and smiling was one of them like maybe your not comfortable with yourself in the character to go to a certain place so you use a different way to get there to the audience and smiling was a way for me to do that and uh so I got really excited to try to play like the hilarity of a situation without smiling or like how do you laugh at a joke without laughing you like that kind of stuff sounded so fun to do (talks) thanks 01:10:59 - AO2.HRN-1551 In:01.10.59 Out:01.11.25 Sound Bite: Patrick Fugit- Yeah Yeah I mean uh yeah he could have been I know that Goran knows the uh ??? group you know Eugene Huts Eugene is loosely based on and uh yeah I sort of feel the eastern European feel to the movie defiantly yeah 01:11:38 - AO3.HRN-1551 In:01.11.38 Out:01.13.04 Sound Bite: Patrick Fugit- Yeah right (talks) thats . unique and so he got there and he just went straight into hair and make up and went into wardrobe came to set we did a rehearsal and he was completely prepared didnt need the side didnt really need any rehearsal time or preparation we were lining up for the camera he knew exactly what he was doing he knew Kneller so well I was thinking what the hell am l doing here hes so good and hes such a nice quiet shy guy which is a surprising when you hear how outward his music is um yeah it was insane and hes so good hes so good at acting 01:13:00 - AO4.HRN-1551 In:01.13. Out:01.15.12 Sound Bite: Patrick Fugit- I mean I think that was something we came on something we got from Goran right away he was really interested in playing the reality of this situation which I mean if you think about I not personally never complotted suicide so it was hard for me to imagine what that must be like I didnt know if it was a very intense Im sure its different from everybody but whatever it is to go through before you commit suicide it has to be very ultimately crazy to like to physically commit to that sort of action is pretty astounding we where trying to think of what happens when you do that to free yourself from whatever your trying to get away from or whatever your trying to do it for and it just backfires and you end up in a worse situation so we kind of figured like what your gonna be depressed but you gotta go on and you know I feel like I would make light of the situation like the movie does like the people in the movies sort of do that what I always like about it that they take it in stride and uh playing the reality of it there just existing in this sort of context thats what I sort of enjoyed about reading the script it didnt you know stress the darkness of suicide and everything it just sort of existed in this story
