prove harsh (but fair?) judges of his attempt to create a local delicacy
Dock Pudding.
In Morecambe Bay, Hugh trawls for shrimps in the company of Raymond
Edmonson, a man whose red faced joviality belies the fact that his
industry is in terminal decline.
Hugh's final (and controversial) fling is a daring tree climb in a
Lancashire rookery. During the war, when protein was scarce, young
rooks were considered a treat and Hugh is determined to see if the reputation was justified.
