- Title: Cutting Edge: Tale Of Two Alis
- Date: 25th September 2003
- Summary: Two boys, blown apart by US bombs, were among some of the very few war casualties to be evacuated from the devastation of the Allied attacks on Baghdad. They were both flown, close to death, to a hospital in Kuwait, to be treated by the same team of plastic surgeons. One is six, the other 13: they are both named Ali. Ali Abbas lost his arms and most of his family. He became known as one of the press icons of the conflict, and received messages of support, donations, and offers of medical assistance from all around the world. He is now in Britain. The other Ali, Ali Hussein, had also lost many family members and had severe facial injuries that transformed his appearance. But he and the other Iraqi children evacuated to Kuwait were not singled out for any press attention.
