Description:Mel Gibson: God's Lethal Weapon
This documentary will explore the life and career of Mel Gibson, with particular emphasis on his upcoming film 'The Passion'. Set to become the most controversial release of 2004 'The Passion' has already kicked up a storm of debate and argument and led Gibson to be accused of anti-Semitism. This programme provides a frame for this debate, and explores the contradictions of a man whose career is founded on violence and raw sex-appeal,whose personal life has been torn by alcoholism and violence yet who espouses traditional Catholic views on everything from feminism to homosexuality.
Written and narrated by: Mark Kermode
