Description:The challenge for Matt James is gardening where there's almost no space for gardening. He's the urban gardener with attitude, who wants to show city-dwellers the potential of their roofs, balconies and patios.
(episode six)
Matt is in Shoreditch where he goes to see Julia who has a large balcony in her penthouse flat. Julia likes cottage gardens but Matt recognises that balconies have additional problems in comparison to normal gardens including noise, pollution and strong winds. Matt suggests using bold coloured planting in different sized planters that can be moved around so that the layout can be changed for whatever occasion. He uses cottage plants to create a feeling of a sanctuary amongst the urban chaos.
