- Title: Wifeswap Australia
- Date: 9th November 2004
- Description:Two women who have never met agree to swap homes, children and husbands for two weeks to see what they can learn about their own lives. The women have to cope with a new spouse,be mother to other people's children and then meet up with the other couple at the end of the two weeks to tell each other how it all went. During the first week the new wife is expected to do everything that the real wife does at home and to the same standard whether they agree with it or not. The second week then brings about the opportunity for the new wives to show these families how they do things and how they think they can improve the family's lives. The families, usually coming from very opposite worlds, inevitably clash on issues such as child rearing, house keeping and life style choices Narrator: Ken Lorimer Produced and Directed by: Sam Maynard (Episode 10: Australia) Tony and Tanya Dingle have been married for seven years and have six children; Angela,James-Dean,Rebecca,Luke,Lou-Lou and baby Brianna and live with their sheep, dogs and other animals in the Ramsey Street neighbourhoods of Melbourne Australia. Tanya is the ultimate stay at home mother and admits that her whole existence is needing to be needed by her children and animals. Tanya stays in her pyjamas all day because she says it doesn't matter what she looks like. Tony is a tow truck driver and believes women should do all the cooking, cleaning, washing and ironing. Steven and Elissa Baker have been married for eleven years and have two daughters; Natasha and Isabella; they live in the leafy suburbs of Manchester. Elissa is the ultimate career mum and works as a British Toast Master and at a high pressure job in a bank. The Bakers are obsessed with how they look,Elissa goes to the gym three times a week and gets regular manicures and is fanatical about the neatness of their garden. Steven works in a letting agent and is constantly shouted at by his wife,he says he has gotten used to feeling second best. Tony and Elissa seem to get along at first apart from Elissa's constant comments about hygiene and the dogs. When it comes to her week Elissa puts the dogs in the garden and hires industrial cleaners to get rid of the years of dirt. Tony and the Dingle kids are outraged at the treatment of their dogs and the battle continues until the day she leaves. Steven has a much more pleasant time with Tanya who tells him he does too much for his wife and lets her walk all over him. At the end of the swap Tanya tells Elissa she thinks she neglects her children and her husband and Steven agrees. It seems as if Elissa is going to change as she takes two weeks off work for a family holiday, but at the end of the programme Steven makes it clear he is still being neglected and has to leave the room. Tony and Tanya are expecting another baby but have let their big dog out of its cage thanks to Elissa's advice regarding the RSPCA.
