Against the wishes of George and his fierce and witty assistant Alex,Sir Royston persists in trying to turn the station into a sensationalist high-ratings show by bringing in presenter Sally,a brainless bimbo and by playing on field reporter Damien Day's lack of morals and thirst for a dramatic story. Dave is the office womaniser who still cares about real news and Henry Davenport is the long serving, hot tempered presenter who still hasn't forgiven anyone for forcing him to work alongside Sally. Joy Merryweather is a new member of the team who is the antithesis of what her name suggests. Henry's friend Walter Templeton,a fellow journalist,is gravely ill so he goes to see him but they end up arguing over who is the best journalist. As everyone in the office settles to watch Henry's documentary,Gus is clearly pleased to see that is has been replaced by Walter Templeton's obituary,Henry explains that he died trying to swing a punch at him.
