- Summary: (Episode seven) After a drunken night at the Jockey Fiona thinks she has pulled a fit footballer but when she lifts up the covers she discovers it is geeky Joey Dawson instead and she is horrified. Marty breaks Joey's arm in a jealous outburst and Liam eats Fiona's contraceptive pills so they all rush to the hospital. Fiona then gets a follow up visit from the health visitor due to Liam's overdose and it turns out to be Katrina Webb,a girl from school who used to be really fat and who Fiona nicknamed the 'sperm whale' who also happens to be engaged to Joey Dawson. Katrina has not forgiven Fiona for their school antics so reports the family to social services. They are told they will be getting a visit and that Frank or Monica needs to be present. Meanwhile Debbie and Lip discover that Frank cannot scientifically be Ian's dad as Ian has type 0 blood,Ian decides to meet his real father who Frank reckons is a man called Gary Bennett who was Monica's boss for a while. Monica is away on holiday so Fiona has to get Sheila in to pretend to be her for the visit. The night before Katrina forces Fiona to meet her and Joey for a drink and she discovers that Fiona and Joey kissed. Katrina goes mad and tells Fiona to stay away from her man and she better do a good job with the social or she'll put Liam into care. Ian discovers his real dad,Gary,is another old drunk who looks uncannily like Frank,he is disappointed but sees the funny side and decides not to try to pursue a relationship. Maureen Hale from social services and Katrina turn up and everything goes well until Katrina starts asking who lives where and manages to work out that Sheila is not Monica. Frank turns up in a suit and makes a heart felt speech about how well Fiona takes care of them all,Katrina thinks she has won as she has uncovered the fact that Fiona is the caregiver but Maureen says she doesn't see the problem and thinks Fiona does an excellent job. Fiona tells them all Katrina has a problem because she shagged her boyfriend,Katrina is shocked as she thought they just kissed. Later that night everyone celebrates the success and Fiona is proud of her dad for the first time. Joey Dawson turns up to tell Fiona that they didn't shag because she was too drunk and Fiona is relieved.

Veronica and Kev are good friends of the Gallagher's and live next door to the family while local policemen Tony and Stan tend to turn a blind eye whenever they can to keep the families out of trouble. Veronica's mum,Carol and brother Marty,who suffers from Tourettes syndrome,often join them down the local pub,The Jockey,where Kev works and which is run by lesbian landlady Jez. Sheila's daughter,Karen works at the pub having told Jez that she is gay and now lives in the flat upstairs as well. Ian is gay but only his twin brother Lip knows,he has been seeing Kash who runs the corner shop where he works for some time. Kash's wife Yvonne found out about them but has decided to stay in the marriage and keep quiet so she can get a few more kids out of him.
