Summary:The West Coast Trail in British Columbia is 45 miles from Port Renfrew to Bamfield along the wild Pacific coast. Filmed by Janet and John Foster, a husband and wife team, the hike is a popular one, walked by some 4,000 people each year from all over the world. The South end of the Trail starts in the forest. The main part of the Trail moves between the beaches, with their caves and stunning rock formations. Towards the end of the walk a local Nitanat Indian historian tells us about the Indians who lived along these coasts before the coming of the white men, and whose pictures of their 'visions' can still be seen carved on the rocks along the trail.
