- Title: Behaving Badly The Tale Of The Turbot
- Date: 20th February 1989
- Summary: After 20 years of marriage Mark announces to Bridget (Judi Dench), that their lives have become hum-drum. However there is a solution. He will marry talented young Rebecca and Bridget can move out to a convenient little flat he has found for her in Waddon. Meekly she obliges. For 5 years she behaves as every well- brought up middle-aged, middle class woman is expected. Determined not to be a burden to anyone, she settles for infrequent conversations with her career- orientated daughter Phylldia and reluctantly but kindly, she listens to the daily phone calls from her aggressively ageing ex mother-in-law Frieda - who insists on keeping Bridget up-to-date with every detail of Mark's life with his new bride. One day when Frieda phones with the news that MARK and Rebecca have left for a weekend in France, Bridget suddenly knows exactly what she has to do. Mark and Rebecca return home to find Bridget firmly installed in the spare room.
