- Title: Resonances Ludovic Kennedy
- Date: 14th July 1992
- Summary: The idea behind The Rt Rev Dr David Jenkins talking to Ludovic Kennedy in this programme in the RESONANCES series was to explore the intellectual reasons for at heist Kennedy's commitment to campaigning against injustices. Dismissing God as "a concept which exists, but only in the mind", Kennedy is driven to campaign for the sake of human values. His latest campaign is to legalise voluntary euthanasia, and he discovered an ally in the Bishop, "whose needs and desires are we satisfying when we say at all costs people must be kept alive?" he asked. Ackning that in order to succeed his cause must gain the support of the church Kennedy asks but what are we going to do with such reactionaries as the Pope?.. who said suffering in death is part of Christ's saving plan.. it's not a caring attitude. "No I think not, and I think it isn't a faithful attitude; that is to say it seems to be turning God into a sort of tyrant", replied the Bishop.
