- Title: Resonances Glenda Jackson
- Date: 28th July 1992
- Summary: Switching from investigating humanity dramatically to fighting for humanity politically, as Glenda J has done, provided the key to this programme. The Rt Rev D Jenkins, the Bish of Durham, wanted to find out what made Glenda so ready to change careers, "to swap to a political attempt that at present is on the forlorn side" a s he puts it. It is humanity that provides the common ground between the actress and the Bishop; Glenda impelled to fight against a vision of a society in which we become dehumanised to the point at which "it would be entirely possible to conduct your day without ever having to see or breathe the same air as another human being". The Bishop and Ms Jackson search for the truths behind the policies of the parties, and worry that society is, in the words of Glenda Jackson "standing still without the courage to look forwards or backwards."
