- Title: Resonances Michael Cashman
- Date: 4th August 1992
- Summary: "Occasionally I'm walking down the street and someone will call out 'Queer Boy' and I'll go 'yes, that's right'. I don't get indignant because what I'm trying to say is 'Question that label'" so says Michael Cashman, actor and founder of g ay rights lobby group Stonewall. This discussion is about the right to be who you are, and the way that society excludes people from its ranks. Cashman, who provoked outrage of the tabloid press in 86 with his portrayal of Gay East-enders character Colin says that the rejection of equal rights for gays by society's institutions and the Churs is like "queerbashing in the name of God." "Circumstances, says Bish "had forced both of us into taking more public line about homosexuality than either of us wanted"; the wider theme is the issue of the individual to behave as he or she wishes in their private lives and the way that society so often rejects individual behaviour reacting with prejudice and persecution.
