- Summary: The Old Doll's House. The scene is set in the lobby of a 1930's New York Flophouse. MIKE MCSHANE IS TELLING THE STORY of The Old Doll's House to several old characters huddled by the stove in the tatty run down lobby. Towards the end of the story a bundle of newspapers is pushed inside the doorway. Mike finishes his story, gives an old lady an orange, picks up a newspaper from the pile and leaves the hotel. (The Story of The Old Doll's House:- Lance McGowan is being pursued by some gangsters and jumpsover a wall and hides in an old house for safety. The house belongs to Miss Abigail Ardsley who is a very eccentric but very rich old woman. She welcomes Lance and is greatly charmed by him as he chats to her and listens to he old stories. Later when Lance is arrested for murder it is Miss Ardsley who comes into court to save him.)
