Summary:Sophie and William move on to France for the fifth programme in their series on the traditional foods of Europe. In Gascony they discover some unattractive truths about the production of foie gras - the highly prized local speciality of the livers of force fed geese and ducks. William joins a group of farmers banded together to hunt wild pigeons from a hide in the Gascon woods and learns that the camaraderie of the hunt is often more important than the actual bagging of a pigeon, in fact many hunters take along ready prepared pigeons from home to make sure they have something to eat for lunch!
