- Title: Alan Bleasdale Presents - Requiem Apache
- Date: 11th October 1994
- Summary: Alfred Molina stars in this black comedy written by newcomer to television Raymond Murtagh. He plays Hamish, a getaway driver who wants to go straight but finds that it is not so easy to walk away from his job. Hamish has 'retired' to his country cottage in Suffolk where he tries to live a quiet and peaceful life with his baby daughter. He gets more pleasure these days cycling down country lanes with his elderly neighbour Henry (David Ross) than screeching away in a fast car filled with booty. But his associates in crime remind him that membership to The Club is for life - and once a getaway driver - always a getaway driver. Back in the city, the pressure is on Tony (Kenneth Cranham) - one of Hamish's criminal cohorts - to hand over a lot of loot the The Juice man (Robin Lefevre). If The Juice man doesn't get what he wants, he has his own special technique to show his displeasure, with normally fatal results. Tony needs to do a big job to get the money to appease The Juice man. A Big Job needs impeccable planning and precision skill. It needs a crack getaway driver. Tony sends his hit men Rocky (Andrew Schofield) and Mick (Raph Brown) to lure Hamish back to work. Hamish's wife Eva (Katrina Levon) has gone back to her native Sweden leaving Hamish to take care of their baby. He tells Rocky and Mick that he's not interested in doing another Job because of the demands of single parenthood. But they are very persuasive emissaries. In the end, Hamish reluctantly agrees to take part in a very big bank robbery. He makes sure that this is his very last job for The Club - with unexpected consequences. Julie Walters has a cameo part in Apache Requiem as an eccentric village character.
