- Summary: HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS Although all the CITIZEN 2000 children were born in Britain, some of their parents settled here from other countries. Their children have experience of cultures, religions and countries that may be very different from their playground friends. Some feel they have two countries, though when their parents start thinking seriously about the prospect of returning to live in Jamaica or Kenya, the youngsters are not too sure. What about their friends? And will they have the same computer games there? But recession and the moral climate of Britain in the 1990s are causing some families to reconsider their decision to remain here. This summer, ELENA, one of the CITIZEN 2000 children, has already left Britain to start a new life with her family back in Cyprus where her parents were born. They were afraid for her well being and safety as a girl growing up in London.
