- Summary: Les Gimmiques - Degout wants to win a commission from the great philanthropist General Trombaut (Stephen Moore) to paint his wife Juliette. To do this he has to follow the current Parisienne fashion and find a gimmick to make himself a more distinctive and marketable artist. He therefore becomes "The Artist With a Whip". Trombaut is an intensely jealous man and suspects Degout of having an affair with his wife. But when the lovers are caught in the act it becomes clear that the General's shellshock has affected his senses. Trombaut is conned into thinking that another artist is having an affair with his wife. Degout goes reprimanded but is given a worthless tin medal by Trombaut instead of the 10,000 francs that he was originally promised. In a fit of pique, Degout throws the medal out of the window. Later on, Rochet is feted throughout Paris as "the artist with the Tin Medal".
