Summary:Who is it that makes the money go round? Who controls the worlds of capital, finance and taxation? In this new, three-part series the cameras go inside three institutions to discover the workings of the financial world. Today, it's the turn of the Inland Revenue. The Inland Revenue's work includes collecting the money - at the collection centre in Shipley, Yorkshire, £600 million are received every day - but also has departments like the 'ghost-busting' investigators who catch people in the construction industry, the collectors who have to tell companies they need to pay more tax and the army of staff up and down the land who assess and administer the tax returns of every individual and enterprise in the country.
