- Title: Faces Of The Family - With Mavis Nicholson
- Date: 11th February 1994
- Summary: THE MATRIARCH. To mark what the United Nations has designated The Year of The Family, Mavis Nicholson explores family life in Britain today through the experiences of one large extended family - that of Pauline and Joe Crabbe - which spans four generations. This numerous family has weathered divorce and desertion, disability and drug problems. It has seen lone parents, working parents and step-parents. It embraces different races, cultures and religions and different views about the changing roles of men and women and the family itself. In the first programme, we are introduced to Pauline Crabbe - family matriarch and soon-to-be great-grandmother for the sixth time - as she celebrates her 24th Wedding Anniversary with husband Joe and the rest of her family.
