Summary:A comedy thriller, set in the murky world of football. Sir Bob Luckton (Timothy West) is a club chairman and megalomaniac. As the season draws to a climax, his club, City lose their manager amid sleaze allegations and are staring into the abyss of relegation. Ex-City player, Ted Whitehead (James Bolan) takes over a manager. He's a man of principle and old-fashioned integrity, but he's soon put to the test as City are besieged by a horde of familiar problems, violent fans, violent players, violent away strips, match faxing, drug abuse, and most disturbing of all, a visit from Inland Revenue.
