Summary:Famous for cold showers, early morning runs and having made Prince Charles miserable, Gordonstoun School in North East Scotland is changing. Traditionalists, including some of the pupils themselves, believe the school has gone soft. But the Headmaster, Mark Pyper, is instituting radical reforms to liberate the harsh regime. Penny Woolcock spent the Autumn term observing this remarkably unorthodox school undergoing change. She follows girls sneaking into the woods for secret cigarettes, sixth formers smuggling beer into their bedrooms, and others being reprimanded for bad behaviour. But the real test for the school is a serious case of violent bullying.
