- Description:Two women who have never met agree to swap homes, children and husbands for two weeks to see what they can learn about their own lives. The women have to cope with a new spouse,be mother to other people's children and then meet up with the other couple at the end of the two weeks to tell each other how it all went. During the first week the new wife is expected to do everything that the real wife does at home and to the same standard whether they agree with it or not. The second week then brings about the opportunity for the new wives to show these families how they do things and how they think they can improve the family's lives. The families, usually coming from very opposite worlds, inevitably clash on issues such as child rearing, house keeping and life style choices Narrator: Ken Lorimer Produced and Directed by: Laurence Turnball (Episode five) Belinda and Geoff Millman have been married for 22 years and have two children; Emma and Mary. Belinda is a full-time mum and Geoff does shift work on the London underground. They live in Stevenage and believe that children should be free to go to bed when they want. Belinda says that with this freedom comes responsibility but admits her biggest kid is Geoff. Belinda would like Geoff to back her up more when it comes to the kids and be a bit more mature and sensible when he needs to. Jude and Roy Sullivan have been married for three years and Roy is step father to Jude's two children; Greg and Deborah. They live near Preston and both work as civil servants. Roy is meticulously tidy and says he was not put on this earth to tidy up after children in particular. He and Jude both believe in a structured and efficient house and the two children each have a chart with their rules on and penalty charges for breaking them. They are also given room inspections which they can either pass or fail. This week Belinda and Geoff have their work cut out both trying to get rule-loving control freaks Jude and Roy to relax a bit and enjoy life. Jude seems to be seeing things differently at first when she moves in with Geoff and is allowed to go on a girls night out and they have a big party. She admits to really enjoying herself and starts to question her and Roy's way of life. By the next morning, however,Jude seems more up tight then ever and after imposing numerous rules she falls out with the Millman girls and cannot wait to get back home. Belinda slowly works her magic on Roy and he begins to enjoy spending time with his step kids and sees that perhaps he has been too rigid in the past but when he is reunited with Jude at the end all Belinda's good work seems to have gone for nothing and the only change made to the house is the addition of two dwarf hamsters. Belinda and Geoff go home happy to be free again and congratulate their girls on tearing up the 'evil cow's' ridiculous rules.
