- Title: Dispatches: Tsunami Special
- Date: 24th January 2005
- Summary: The Asian Tsunami Disaster should make us stop and think about how our government spends our money in the rest of the world. Jon Snow referees a live debate about western policies that permit billions of pound to be spent on the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan while great swathes of humanity remain starving, diseased and impoverished. Are our governments making the right choices? Can we learn something from the way the world is pulling together to address the Asian Tsunami disaster and apply it in future? The debate will combine four short films in which international figures advocate the way they would re-work some of our governments' choices, with live studio guests including rock star Chris Martin, frontman for Coldplay and Free Trade; and Clare Short, the former International Development Cabinet Minister.
