The band was created on ITV's reality show 'Popstars: The Rivals' where each girl was voted into the band by the audience and then went head to head with the rival boy band to compete for the Christmas number one spot. Girls Aloud's single 'Sound of the Underground' won the top spot and was a huge hit. The band have continued to stay at the top with every single entering the charts in the top ten; a record that no other girl band has achieved. They go to Paris to shoot the video and everyone is pleased with the end result except Nicola who thinks she looks awful in it. A story about Sarah appears in the papers saying that her ex-Calum Best has been saying nasty things about her but she says she doesn't believe it. Calum then turns up at the photo shoot they are on and makes it clear that they are still good friends and that the story was all lies. At another television appearance their friend Jordon pops in to say hello and Cheryl has a crisis of confidence about how she looks after seeing Jordon's minute figure. Finally the result is in and the girls discover they are number 6 in the charts,they are a bit disappointed that it is not top five but Cheryl thinks it is great considering it is the forth single from their album.
