Description:01 24 48 00 France, 1910s. Toulon. A bourgeois father leads his son aboard a navy boat fllying the French tricolor flag. The boat moves towards an immense steamship, a warship. The father and son are welcomed by the captain. The father tours the boat with his son; they cross the bridge, full of ship's boys and sailors in uniforms. They then descend to the office of the commandant,to whom the father presents his son. He leaves his son - rather moving sequence of separation and the desolation of his son. The son waves to his father and watches him leave, then finds himself alone on the warship.
