Inside a police station, after the massive arrest of a group of tramps, young, middle class Hallam Cooley, takes of the defense of the injustly arrested Doris May. The sheriff, in the meantime, fines Cooley, who pays and takes off with his fiancze, both released. But Doris May protests because Cooley passed her off as his fiancze. He explains to her that it was a trick to get out of going to prison. He gallantly returns her to her father's house.
