- Description:Trainline disrupted after a mudslide hits the Gastein Valley in Salzburg Clean-up work started today after heavy rainfalls have caused a mudslide and flooding in the Gastein Valley in province of Salzburg. A mudslide hit the train line between Bad Hofgastein and Badgastein, and will be disrupted until Monday. A normally small creek, the Scheiblingbach, has swollen due to heavy rainfall which damaged a bridge. Last night, 16 houses were evacuated and 50 people had to stay overnight in a hotel or with their relatives. Residents report that the rainfall only lasted for around 20 minutes, but the damages is enormous. Today people could get back into their houses, but eight houses can only be reached by foot as the bridge is damaged.
