- Summary:
- Description:Vienna Global Pride event sees 100 cars driving "against the direction of travel" Loud music, colorfully decorated party trucks and half a million participants - this is how fans know the annual rainbow parade in the center of Vienna. Such a large demonstration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community is not possible this year because of the coronavirus preventive measures. The event was reduced significantly. Instead of the traditional rainbow parade the Austrian capital saw a parade of cars and motocycles driving in the city centre. One hundred brightly decorated cars and motorbikes drove around the city "ringroad" five times "against the direction of travel", which should be considered as a symbol and mark "the other way around" sexual life, from 5:00 pm on Saturday. This particular event was part of the "purely virtual Global Pride". It is an online streaming event in which more than 500 prides from all over the world participate with contributions. Federal President Alexander van der Bellen and Conchita Wurst were expected to participate online from Austria. This is done to draw attention to the situation of LGBTIQ people. The organizers appealed to the spectators to adhere to the rules of social distance.
