- Description:Severe flooding in parts of Lower Austria after heavy rainfall Heavy rainfall caused local flooding in Lower Austria yesterday. Several rivers like Melk and Mank had very high-water levels and threaten to flood streets and houses. Especially the districts Melk, St.Poelten, Tulln, Scheibs and Amstetten were hit hard by the floods, over 2000 men of the local fire brigades were on duty. Sandbags and other barriers were erected to prevent further damages on street and houses.
