- Title: 339 AT COVID-19 Religions
- Date: 10th June 2020
- Description:New guidelines in place in churches and mosques in Austria due to the pandemic The social distancing rules frustrate believers of various religious denominations as the main point of celebrating, i.e. being-together, is reduced since months on a minimum level. This item illustrates this within the Viennese Catholic Church, the Muslim Church and the Lutherian Church. The most important part of the Catholic Corpus Christi festival is in fact the outdoor holy mass service and the subsequent procession, with many viewers. This year, the Catholic priests and the believers need a lot of fantasy to create a procession in line with COVID-19 restrictions. Also, the Muslim Church in Vienna struggles with the different conditions. Only a reduced number believers may join the Mosque at the same time. The Lutherian Church changed their masses into digital ones, meaning less joy for the believers.
