- Date: 4th June 2020
- Description:Strache answers questions after investigation committee Heinz Christian Strache was questioned today at the parliamentary investigation committee on the so-called Ibiza Video. Last year he stepped down as Vice Chancellor after the video appeared showing him and Johann Gudenus offering public deals, newspapers or laws to a woman said to be a niece of a rich oligarch. After the questioning he answered questions for journalists and said he always refused any corruption offers, he is not prone to bribes, and he always acted to his ideals and he has a pure conscience. He wants the full video to be given to the prosecutor, and of course a publication is not possible as it was filmed illegally. But I never asked for publication, this would be unlawful. Because an illegal produced video cannot be published as this is against the law. The journalists arguing correctly, this video cannot be published as it would be against the law. I want the full video to be given to the prosecutor". -SOUNDBITE (German) Heinz Christian Strache, Former Vice Chancellor of Austria: "In my life I have a pure conscience I have refused all corruption offers from this lady consequently and this is shown in the book". -SOUNDBITE (German) Heinz Christian Strache, Former Vice Chancellor of Austria: "No, I totally refuse this, this is untrue. I have never been prone to bribery, I have always acted for matters I believed in and I were convinced. Wherever injustice has happened I have tried to stop that and always followed my ideals and believes. I refuse this allegation".
