- Description:Museums are hit hard by corona crises in Vienna, they fear loss of revenue of 24 million euros Museums in Vienna are hit hard by COVID-19 measures, the museums are all closed and even if they can reopen, many visitors are tourists and therefore there are big loss on entrance fees and revenues. An estimated loss of revenues of 24 million Euros is expected. At the Museum Belvedere around 90 per cent of the visitors come from abroad. Therefore, Museums look for new strategies to cope with the crisis. Some large shows have been postponed, others try to widen their online presence, or show exhibitions to attract more local visitors. Director of the Museum for Historic Art in Vienna Sabine Haag says she still believes in a special experience if you visit a museum, and there will be demand for this analog experience after the crisis.
