- Title: 224 AT COVID-19 Shops reopen
- Date: 14th April 2020
- Description:Small shops re-open in Austria amid ease of coronavirus lockdown measures The withdrawal of individual measures from today on is accompanied by strict conditions. At this moment only shops with a sales area of less than 400 square metres are being considered (an artificial reduction of the sales area - for example by barriers - is not allowed). DIY and garden centers are not bound by the square meter limit, as well as building material traders, metal and wood dealers, car and bicycle repair shops, car washes and pawnshops. To all of them, the use of masks is compulsory - also for the staff, but the shops do not have to provide masks for the customers. Safety distance of at least 1 meter and 20 square meters of space per customer must be available. The maximum opening hours are between 7:40 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Supermarkets, pharmacies, and tobacconists were already open. Nothing will change there. And shopping centres, restaurants, and hotels will remain closed, as well as service providers such as hairdressers and manicure salons. In public transport and taxis, one must also wear a mask or cover your mouth and nose with a cloth or scarf.
