However, the large film has been moving on the Danube surface, geographically located between the city of Korneuburg (province of Lower Austria) and the Handelskai street (Vienna) since Thursday early morning. A police patrol had noticed the pollution. It was fought with oil barriers, the fire service said. These oil barriers bind hydrocarbons such as fuels. The affected section on the Danube was closed to shipping until 3 p.m. Afterwards, shipping was resumed. Vienna's water supply was not affected as it flows through the high-spring water pipe network. Animals were also not affected, the fire department informed in a broadcast. As a precaution, however, all drinking water stations along the Danube were temporarily closed. The cause of the fuel film is not yet known.
