- Summary: Yes Man / Director Peyton Reed: YES man Director PEYTON REED
- Description:15:49:06 - Sound Bite: Peyton Reed I think that; you know I would describe the tone of yes man as a slightly more grounded Jim Carey comedy. Because when Jim and I first talked about this movie and what we wanted it to be and what we didnt want it to be. We wanted to allow him to be funny but we also wanted him to be able to create a character that was a real guy. There is no magic involved and and you know hes not sort of a comedic conceit hes a real guy. And that what was sort of in the book yes man; what we all liked about it is that a real guy did this for a year of his life and we wanted to sort of maintain that aspect of the book in the movie 15:49:06 - Sound Bite: Peyton Reed Yeah and that was a really conscience choice. Jims done that before, he did Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty and we did not want a magical conceit we just wanted it to be you know a relatable story about a guy. 15:50:09 - Sound Bite: Peyton Reed Oh yeah, its its um when your casting somebody to play opposite Jim its a tall order because he can just sort of you know hes just a ball of energy and he can really sort of eclipse anybody else who is in the frame and Zoe, when she is in the movie you know I dont know about you but I cant take my eyes of her because she is just - you know. Shes beautiful and she just has this quality to her thats really really unique you know. You dont quite know what to make of her at first in the movie when she shows up you know if she is going to be dangerous or whether shes sweet or what kind of journey shes going to take Jim on and that thats um exactly the quality we were looking for that character. 15:50:54 - Sound Bite: Peyton Reed Yeah, we you know from the very beginning, we were writing for Jim and with Jim you know we always knew he was going to be the guy but it definitely you know, you know there are things that you can get away with Jim and um, um, there are things you can sort of embark that are sort of very easy to imagine how funny it would be with Jim so that was kind of good you know particularly for a comedy, when you know specifically the personality that youre writing for and that you know that Jim was very involved in the writing and and you know the idea again that he always wanted to be funny but, he wanted to stay in the realm of reality. 15:51:40 - Sound Bite: Peyton Reed Um, I dont think there is a real yes seminar but you know its really modeled on all these sort of self help seminars whether its uh Wayne Dire or Joel Lusteen or a uh all these guys who um you know they fill stadiums and its amazing because there are always people out there kind of looking for something to believe in or something to change their lives and um you know its uh exaggerated in the movie but, when you get right down to it, its not that exaggerated.
