- Description:01:00:01 - B-Roll HSM3 Premiere shots of HSM3 banners, the Goodyear Blimp with HSM3 message, wide of red carpet, Goodyear Blimp 01:03:24 - Sound Bite: Bonnie Story It was actually um, I dont want to say harder, but it was um bigger to fill because its on the big screen and so when youre thinking about choreographing for the big screen its not just you know theres so much detail and you have to fill it with movement and with feeling and with energy and so um its more of a challenge and to make it make sense and make it real and not just like a little dance in the movie, so it was a challenge but it was its, film is my favorite, I love film. It was really fun. 01:04:04 - Sound Bite: Bonnie Story Absolutely, absolutely. We pushed the cast harder this movie, by far than any of them, by far. And they came, I mean they came and they worked and they were committed. I enjoy working with every one of those cast members. They um work so hard for me and just want to have fun, but yet they want to be the best they can be and they pull me aside and say, Bonnie, can you work with me in the other room? Or, Make sure Im doing this right. And you know really committed and just excited about the project. It was fun. 01:04:38 - Sound Bite: Bonnie Story Absolutely. The morning, early morning that we wrapped, it was very emotional because most of us have been through all 3 movies and so its just like oh, you know, its just like a family and weve taken this process together and this amazing artistic journey together and yeah it was really emotional for all of us. It was crazy for the cast, for the dancers, for us, for people on the set even, you know that have been with us throughout the 3 movies so it was amazing. 01:05:21 - B-Roll HSM3 Premiere wide of red carpet, establishing of Galen Center, Selena Gomez, photographers, Selena getting photographed 01:08:30 - B-Roll HSM3 Premiere peeps walking by, cutaway, Molly Gray, some fans, a jib arm w/ camera, Goodyear Blimp, Galen Center to wide of RC 01:11:27 - B-Roll HSM3 Premiere Molly Gray and Tyler Welling, little kids in cheerleading outfits, various of fans and shit 01:14:07 - B-Roll HSM3 Premiere HSM sign with photogs in front of it, some tall dude but not sure who he is since its so far away, random people walking by RC, fans 01:16:01 - Sound Bite: Peter Barsocchini Unbelievable, amazing. Its been amazing because we were talking, we were driving over here, and we were talking about the first High School Musical premiere which was actually just the screening on the Walt Disney lot and it was just a small group of us and it was a rainy day and we watched the movie and we went over and had some hotdogs and things, to this, so its been an amazing 3 years. 01:16:29 - Sound Bite: Peter Barsocchini I never imagined but here is the secret to High School Musical. The first movie I wrote for my daughter, who was at the time 10 years old and her name is Gabriella who then became the character that Vanessa Hudgens plays, so I said Im gonna write something that my daughter would like to watch and we had no idea it was gonna become this but when we were shooting the first movie, I would bring home dalies that we were shooting and Id show her Zac and Id see her go, Whos that? And I go, Oh we got a chance, this could be good. So we got lucky from the beginning. 01:17:06 - Sound Bite: Peter Barsocchini Gabriellas now 14 and shes here, and she is now at her school known as The Real Gabriella, so its been crazy for her because at first you know it just seemed kind of wild and then one day we were in Costco and we walked up and there was a total wall of Gabriella dolls, and I think thats when she went, Okay this is crazy. And I said, No, this is good, youre going to college. So. 01:17:46 - Sound Bite: Peter Barsocchini You know its been amazing because we got to let them, particularly in High School Musical 3, we got to allow them to grow up and act you know like people who are graduating, you know were not trying to make a documentary about real high school, were trying to make a musical comedy, but some of the emotions that they feel are what high school kids feel and to be able to, its easy to time for me to time travel back and watch these kids experience it. I think one of the secrets to the success is the cast, Zac, Vanessa, Ashley, Corbin, all of them have grown up together the last, this was their high school because theyre sort of home schooled because theyre working all the time and so they see each other, theres a prom in High School Musical 3, theres a prom to end all proms, and for them they are talking about it, theyre saying, Wow this was a prom that we always wanted to go to. So there is a sort of parallel universe going on for the cast and the people in it, its been really crazy but great, you know and I think you see with the cast Zac and Vanessa, what you see is what you get, they are nice kids, you know, theyre good kids. 01:19:06 - Sound Bite: Peter Barsocchini The biggest challenge was the first 2 movies because we had 400 million kids around the world and the challenge was, We dont want to do a third movie at all that the High School Musical fans come to and go, Thats not what we wanted. We wanted a movie that so the challenge was not to try and duplicate what we did before, do something different, do something new, and Kenny Ortega from the day, the first day we started talking about it, I said, Kenny, were not gonna repeat ourselves, were gonna go for it, and hopefully its on this screen. 01:19:43 - B-Roll HSM3 Premiere Alyson Reed, Peter Barsocchini 01:21:05 - Sound Bite: Alyson Reed I know isnt it crazy? Well I thought this was going to be big to be truthful. Um we knew that there was something in the air when we did the very first reading of number 1. (talks) It just, there was something magical when we sat down at the table read. It started off as a sweet little script and then when we really had the reading and the kids were around and all of a sudden, we said this is gonna be this generations Grease. And we were right. 01:21:38 - Sound Bite: Alyson Reed Its very exciting to see them. Theyve grown up so much as human beings, and theyve matured so much as actors and um performers, Im just very very proud of them and all of their accomplishments. 01:21:53 - Sound Bite: Alyson Reed You know what? There wasnt a challenge because Kenny Ortega, the director, was the same director. He was very clear on his vision so as far as we were concerned all we were doing was concentrating on doing good work that we were proud of and Kenny very much set that tone from the very beginning so thats what we followed through with on this. 01:22:13 - Sound Bite: Alyson Reed No everybody was in tears when we wrapped, it was and there was, I had a couple scenes after, the big group wrap, but the day the big group wrap, it was tough, it was so its kind of bittersweet tonight saying goodbye to everyone. Yeah. 01:22:39 - B-Roll HSM3 Premiere Brenda Song, Alyson Reed, DB Sweeney, kid in red shirt, wide of red carpet, pretty brunette 01:25:16 - B-Roll HSM3 Premiere Bill Borden, Andy Garcia 01:25:51 - Sound Bite: Bill Borden Amazing. Isnt this amazing? And its just for a bunch of kids, thats what they think. 01:26:00 - Sound Bite: Bill Borden No, we had the premiere in a screening room at Disney Studios and had the party at the commissary. And the kids, the 6 main stars, they sat at commissary tables and we had posters for anybody who wanted to sign them. And I think each one of those posters is worth a fortune right now if you put them on eBay. 01:26:26 - Sound Bite: Bill Borden You know um, I had this idea to make the movie for my kids. I conceived the idea, but who could have ever known itd get this big. I was happy when I conceived the idea and I sold it to Disney Channel, and I said okay I want to do 3 of them ,I want to do the 1st one, I want to do schools out for summer, and then I want to do graduation, because thats where it should end, prom/graduation. And weve been fortunate enough to make it, its great, its great. 01:27:00 - Sound Bite: Bill Borden But I think all kids have the same problems they go through to be accepting in school, to be a kid whos understood in school, to have an ambition to have a desire and then to have it work out and to feel like instead of just comforming and fitting into the box that your schoolmates want you to, sometimes you dont want to fit into that box or its uncomfortable to fit in that box, its something else. This movie gives kids permission to say Im not, I dont have to be like you, accept it. 01:27:37 - Sound Bite: Bill Borden Well the good thing is is that we have High School Musical 3 planned in our heads before, but alls we had to do was make it bigger and better, at least bigger, so that it filled the big screen, and that was the biggest challenge, is how do you take these concepts we have of making music and dance part of the story and make it fill the big screen so you dont feel like, Oh you came to a stop and you saw a song. So that was the biggest challenge to keep the integrity of how we had the songs integrated into the story and still big and wonderful. 01:28:11 - Sound Bite: Bill Borden Yes. Zac and Vanessa are absolutely wonderful. And what I was saying the other day at one of the press conferences, Im not sure if you were there, but we all were friends together for 3 years now, were having dinner again tomorrow night, we hang out together, the kids come over to my house, were all friends, its great. Its really unusual. I think it shows on the screen. 01:28:35 - Sound Bite: Bill Borden You know the last, the last day on the last shot, we had to close down the production for about 2 hours. Everyone was crying so much, we had to have makeup done again, it was really fun. 01:28:54 - Sound Bite: Borys Kit We are here on the red carpet at the premiere of High School Musical 3, woo, which is a humungous event uh far surpassing the tween audience. Its something thats now a worldwide phenomenon. Weve been having these premieres rolling out around the world finally landing here in Los Angeles. Theyve shut down a major street, Figueroa Street and its being held in the Gallon Center which is a big basketball court, stadium for USC. What they are doing inside actually 3000 people are here, theyre splitting the stadium in half, filling it with audiences and having a huge screen which theyll be digitall projecting the uh screen. Down that way you can hear Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens who are obviously huge sensations. Theres students and kids everywhere screaming their heads off. Its a natural, organic, pulp culture phenomenon that actually kind of slipped bigger out of Disneys hands. The budget for this was 40 million and because this is the first time this is being a theatrical movie. The first 2 were straight-to-DVD phenomenons selling millions of copies and adding you know billions to the bottom line for Disney. 01:30:08 - B-Roll HSM3 Premiere wide of crowd and red carpet, backdrop, dark haired girl, various of carpet, cutaway, backgrounds, Ashley Tisdale 01:34:08 - B-Roll HSM3 Premiere Ashley Tisdale, various
