- Summary: Speed Racer Premiere, Tape 2: HRN-2202 Speed Racer Premiere Tape #02
- Description:02:00:58 - Sound Bite: Stanton Barrett (I think people underestimate what you have to go through physically and mentally you know its something that you have to focus, a lot of experience is involved with the setups and the whole business aspect of racing is a lot more complex, the same as filming a movie. Theres so many elements that people dont have any idea but the concentration level and the competition level, what you have to do physically and mentally to compete at that level, participation and profession, theres a lot to it ya know, uh its fun though, it puts me in a place Ive been all my life in competing and I think most professional athletes know what kind of zone it takes to) be able to do that kind of job, and then you add the element of speed and the excitement of never knowing whats gonna happen and all the events that are out of your control that you are trying to uh whip in and you know bring yourself good luck and its just a cool sport. 02:01:17 - Sound Bite: Stanton Barrett The main sponsors Nos Energy Drink and Inner Rush Grand State Hotels, I have a couple really great supporters and they pretty much share equal billing in a variety of different races (talks) In the nationwide series Im number 30, in the Sprint cup Im number 50 02:01:51 - Sound Bite: Matthew Fox Well I mean I just think theyre really innovative directors and theyre constantly looking for new ways and imagining the way that movies can look. So their visual style is very bold and uh theyre constantly trying to envision new ways that movies can be told um and then you know my first meeting with them talked a lot about how they wanted to make a family movie, that their nieces and nephews could go see and that really struck a chord with me. I havent really done anything that my kids can see and theyre here tonight, theyve been waiting an awful long time to see this movie, and I cant wait to sit down, have the lights come down, and watch their faces, watch this movie. 02:02:38 - Sound Bite: Matthew Fox Very different, very different uh this was a gimble situation where it was a hydraulically manipulated gimble. We didnt have to do a lot of work, basically you kind of just buckle the seatbelt really tight and hang on for dear life, uh it was pretty intense and fun um the Vantage Point situation was a very different thing, it was a sort of a poor mans green screen process and then a lot of stunt drivers doing the actual driving. I was not in that sequence very much, you know I mean I was just really the close up stuff and they just popped it into somebody who was driving very intensely. 02:03:15 - Sound Bite: Matthew Fox It wasnt that bad, and again Larry and Andy you know gave us so much material, previs and digital imagery and artists renderings so we had a really good idea of what these set pieces would feel like 02:03:37 - B-Roll - Speed Racer Premiere - Matthew Fox 02:03:57 - Sound Bite: Aimee Teegarden Am I much of a race car? Ive never actually been to a NASCAR official like track meet but um I love like bumper cars and I love and I like driving and I enjoy speed, lets put it that way. 02:04:12 - Sound Bite: Aimee Teegarden Do I like football? Honestly Ive actually never been to a professional game, I went to a, I know its really bad right, Ive been to a UT game though that was so much fun I had such a great time, um and Ive been to so many high school football games, its fun, Im more of a Dodgers fan though, I said it. 02:04:37 - B-Roll - Speed Racer Premiere - Aimee Teegarden, wide of carpet, Susan Sarandon, Emile Hirsch 02:05:50 - B-Roll - Speed Racer Premiere Susan Sarandon 02:05:57 - Sound Bite: Susan Sarandon No, Im here because of the Matrix really, I was seduces by The Matrix, which I think is one of the most brilliant films ever, I kind of missed, I didnt watch, I wasnt a kid that really watched a lot of kids and then my kids went kind of right to uh South Park and Simpsons and American Dad stuff like that which theyve turned me onto through the years and which Ive done voices for actually. So you know it was the Wachowskis and this idea that they were going to do something never done before and I like the theme of family thats in there and the same time there sense of humor and its they created a whole new kind of filmmaking and so I thought well if Im ever going to do something that involves green screen they would be the guys to do uh. 02:06:47 - Sound Bite: Susan Sarandon You know you think it would be crazy but one of them your imaging what there and then normally youre imagining whats not there because youre trying to pretend youre not making love in front of twelve people with a camera right here so you know I, youre always trying to focus hard, and pretend things arent there. So really pretending things were there wasnt that difficult. 02:07:23 - Sound Bite: Emile Hirsch You know theyre just these fantastic, fantastic guys who have this kind of innovative just nature to them whenever they work on films and theyre just always trying to push the boundaries of whats been, what come before and its exciting to be a part of that in a movie you know. 02:07:47 - Sound Bite: Emile Hirsch Well it wasnt the suit, it was this thing called The Gimble which is the robotic arm that was the cars simulator for me so Id be in this car simulator and it would be shaking me around like when Im in the races and it was honestly so like rage I had being in me and its uncomfortable, you get whiplash and you get bruised so all the scenes in the movie where Im actually racing Im just like its genuine anger, it was like method acting, it was fantastic. 02:08:21 - Sound Bite: Emile Hirsch No, well when I was on the set, but when I first read the script I was like well what are they going to do with this like its going to be and then you see what they did and youre like its its you dont go oh thats like this or thats like that you know you dont have that reference point you always have you go oh Ive never seen anything like that, its crazy. 02:08:41 - Sound Bite: Emile Hirsch Uh I was a huge fan actually, I watched it on cartoon network all the time, I loved it. 02:08:57 - Sound Bite: Joel Silver I mean I had the project for a long time, almost 20 years, not till the Wachowski brothers come along and said look we have an idea to make this did it become a real movie. They had this notion of a CGI world, with just an outrageous unbelievably colorful experience and they did a fantastic job. 02:09:24 - Sound Bite: Joel Silver Well that was the intention and if they said that then we succeeded and were showing it here at a theatre where a movies never been shown before, so it kind of, so it kind of ? never done before so Im excited about today and Im excited about the movie. 02:09:40 - Sound Bite: Joel Silver Well yeah I mean Iron Man comes before us, then Narnia, then Indiana Jones , I mean theyre coming, its like mortar shells, but uh were excited, we feel strong, we feel good and uh were gonan keep going 02:09:53 - Sound Bite: Joel Silver The next one that will be that I start shooting literally tomorrow is a movie called Ninja Assassin, the brothers are producing it with me, starring Rainn whos actually in this movie, its a full on martial arts movie. I been ? with Guy Richie called RocknRolla which is terrific. Back to my R rated roots essentially because this movie is a PG movie, with uh Gerry Butler and Thandie Newton and Tom Wilkinson, its a great English gangster film. Im busy but hoping this movies a big hit. 02:10:28 - B-Roll - Speed Racer Premiere Emile Hirsch, wide of carpet, fans across the street, Speed Racer Car
