Thats how you know a hood guy instead of someone else, nothing really excites a hood guy you know what Im saying. And Darrell is the kind of dude thats like yeah whatever. If a gun shot goes off hes like hey man thats how it is around here you know what I mean its like that kind of dude. And I was just happy to be able to provide a moment of levity for a movie that really needed it. It starts off dark and then it just descends and theres a downward spiral for everyone involved and the question is will any of these guys make it out you know what Im saying. And thats a testament in Davids writing because hes a brilliant writer, every moment was crafted so well and to asked to play this character was wonderful. 10:29:01 - A02. HRN-708 In: 10.29.01 Out: 10.30.19 Sound Bite: Terry Crews Well thats the thing too, its so funny because Darrell knows Jim and you almost have to chill him out you know in a lot of ways you can see where Darrell wouldnt make any jumpy moves or anything excitable because they know things could probably go out of control if you dont calm it down for Jim you know what Im saying. And its kind of wild cause apparently were characters that have known each other for years and the whole thing and it was amazing the comrodery we had as soon as the scene started it was like (snaps) and that was a testament to Christian. I mean here you got a guy hes really an actors actor and I was looking forward to him and I couldnt wait because this is the guy who gives everything in his performances and I just hope to be that kind of guy. Im like I give a hundred percent but I aint lost fifty pounds for nothing and you look this is a guy in the Machinist who lost like, when you see that performance I saw that performance right before I did the movie and I couldnt believe, I said this dude you know he is all about it and youll see in the movie. 10:30:36 - A03. HRN-708 In: 10.30.36 Out: 10.32.10 Sound Bite: Terry Crews Well you know the thing is that, the good thing is that my sitcom is set in ? Brooklyn where there is that element of bleakness anyway you know what I mean it wasnt too far away. You just look for the comedy side of getting robbed as apposed to looking at the sad part of getting robbed you know what I mean, its like all of the, its the same stuff. On Everybody hates Chris people you know people die people get, we had a guy in an episode where a guy was on fire you know what I mean, you just look for the funny part. Where as in this it was like whoa ok were going to treat this with a lot more you know dramatic pause you know what I mean and you know looked to serve the peace, I look to serve wherever Im put in. I dont want people to think this, oh thats Terry Crews doing this, I want you to think about my character, I want you to think, you know I really want you to invest you know because if you see me, I have to say it was a lot, I did Friday After Next which is another comedic South Central story you know what I mean. Which is another version of the South Central tale but in a lot of ways it was similar, in a lot of bleak characters, a lot of people that checked out on life, a lot of decision making gone wrong and you kind of look at this and go how far, you know comedy and drama its a very thin line, very thin.
