Summary:Four part series looking at the international, and often illegal, trade in live animals and wildlife products.
Description:Last in the series of documentary programmes about the threat to rare and endangered animals because of the excessive trade in wild animals and wildlife products. The python skins used to make handbags and cowboy boots probably originate from Thailand where live snakes are slit from end to end and their blood and gall drained to make a medicinal drink. Many other animals are hunted for their supposed medicinal properties. Most of the trade in animal products is illegal, contravening local laws and international agreement, such as the convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. But profits are so great that the temptation to operate outside these laws is often too great.
